Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal tunnel syndrome is also frequently developed among office workers. Triggered by the carpal tunnel tendon in the wrist swelling, this condition is painful and prevents you from using your hands as needed. Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs due to constant, repeated hand movements that inflame the tendon and create pressure against your nerves. On the plus side, though, lessening your discomfort is a matter of performing periodic hand stretches or wearing a wrist brace at your desk.
Another one of the four most common health problems in the office environment is eye strain from looking at a screen all day. The modern professional setting keeps you in front of a computer for at least 80 percent of your working time. As such, it isn’t unheard of for individuals to experience throbbing, aching, or even watering from their eyes. Eye strain can make you uncomfortable; therefore, affecting your work and general well-being in the office. But you can make these symptoms better by improving the lighting near your desk and looking away for at least a few minutes every hour.
Headaches and Fatigue
Your workplace can even contribute to excessive headaches and feelings of fatigue. These things often develop because of stress and can worsen with little warning. Not only are headaches uncomfortable, but they can also damage your productivity levels. As such, taking care of your mental health when outside of the office is vital. You can do this by making time for yourself: participate in a favorite hobby or get in some relaxation time with a good book.
